OREO uses roughly 1 billion oz of plastic in its packaging every year. To combat this, its packaging was redesigned — the box's volume was reduced, and sustainable materials like seaweed pulp and paperboard were used. To highlight this change, the entire OREO brand was also reimagined to convey the importance of environmental consciousness. The logo was made to feel more organic, but simultaneously still fun; the overall aesthetic was made more minimalistic in order to cut down on ink usage; and even the famous OREO cookie itself was updated, so that it encourages sustainability with every bite.
